Job description

Route 1 are currently on the lookout for an experienced Warehouse Team Leader to join one of our valued clients. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a small to medium-sized team, focusing on picking, packing, and preparing customer orders across both eCommerce and wholesale channels.

You’ll be responsible for motivating and developing your team, ensuring exceptional operational standards are maintained, and driving a positive workplace culture. Your leadership will be key to maintaining high levels of accuracy, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate the picking and packing team to deliver accurate, high-quality orders to customer specifications.

  • Allocate workloads effectively, providing support where needed and escalating workload or welfare concerns promptly to the Assistant Manager/Manager.

  • Set clear expectations, communicate tasks professionally, and manage team performance, addressing both achievements and concerns.

  • Maintain high stock accuracy and minimize picking errors or rework.

  • Respond promptly and professionally to issues, ensuring any health and safety concerns are immediately reported and resolved.

  • Operate order management systems to process, manage, and print orders efficiently.

  • Liaise directly with customers, proactively communicating any order or stock issues and resolving queries where possible.

  • Lead by example in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.

  • Support continuous improvement projects and report on outcomes and opportunities.

  • Develop and demonstrate core people management skills, including:

    • Customer service excellence

    • Basic HR activities (break management, performance management, behavior reporting)

    • Promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion

    • Managing and measuring team workload and performance effectively

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a warehousing, logistics, or fulfilment environment

  • Education to college level (BTEC, NVQ, AS/A Levels or equivalent)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other PC-based systems

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • FLT license preferred but not essential
