Job description
Generator - Technical Engineer - Wakefield
My client is looking for a dedicated professional to lead and support our mechanical and electrical service operations.
What You’ll Do:
Oversee and lead major mechanical overhaul works as required.
- Carry out advanced fault finding following escalation from other engineers.
- Support coordinators by interpreting quotations and assisting with planning complex works.
- Assist engineers with parts required to complete remedial works on the first visit.
- Provide on-site and off-site support to engineers, including support for on-call engineers outside normal hours.
- Conduct site visits to address customer queries, as deemed necessary by service or operations managers.
- Participate in the implementation and delivery of training and development plans for service staff, including OEM training and train-the-trainer activities.
- Offer technical support for service quotations and other business areas when needed.
- Create and distribute relevant service bulletins to keep the team informed.
- Perform any other duties reasonably required to support the team and business.
Skills needed:
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in electrical power generation, with strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills.
- Experience specifically with diesel generator sets, AMF, ATS, switchgear, power distribution, and auxiliary equipment. Familiarity with UPS systems and how generators support critical loads is a plus.
- High technical and commercial awareness.
- Full computer literacy, including proficiency in CAD, Microsoft Office, CRM, and related software.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Passionate about health and safety, ensuring everyone goes home safely from our projects.
